After long five session discussion Nama Domain Indonesia forum on Desember 17th 2013, Serpong, Banten, approved the use of .id TLD to public.
Previously public can only use SLD. There are 12 SLD available currently: co.id, biz.id, web.id, my.id, or.id, sch.id, ac.id, desa.id, net.id, go.id, and mil.id.

Launching stages are diviced into 4 periods, starting from January 20th 2014:

- Grandfather. April 20th 2014 – June 19th 2014. Grandfather give privilege for existing SLD holder. Example: chair.co.id owner may register chair.id.
- Landrush. June 20th 2014 – August 20th 2014. Landrush allow anyone to register desired domain as long as qualified.
If there are two or more registrants that reserve the right to use same domain name, registrants that are entitled to use the domain name will be determined by the auction system.
.id TLD is premium domain. Therefore, .id annual fee is higher than existing SLD. Forum decide .id TLD annual fee is Rp 500.000 exclude VAT.
